Foundation Programme in the UK or Foundation Programme at NETWORK
Language in which the Programme is taught and Process of Adaptation to the British Educational System
Foundation Programme in the UK
All courses in the Programme are taught entirely in English.
There is no specific plan for gradual adaptation to the British educational system, as all lectures, seminars and tutorials in UK Universities are conducted on the assumption that the educational system is self-evident. As a result, teaching follows a direct rhythm from the beginning of classes, without allowing for a flexible period of adjustment.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
All courses in the Programme are taught entirely in English, by our native-English Professors.
Due to the different educational systems of the home countries of Greek, Chinese and other International students, great emphasis is put on gradual adjustment and adaptation.
At NETWORK Foundation we give special attention and focus on our general courses such as Study Skills and Research Project, train students with all the necessary soft skills, project, presentation, debate, team work, study habits and codes of University behaviour.
We make sure that each one of our students knows every important detail and is totally prepared to perform in any UK University with confidence and competence.
Individual Counselling in Academic Orientation and Career Guidance
Foundation Programme in the UK
- When a student enrols in a Foundation programme in the UK, he/she has already clarified his/her chosen area of specialisation and the institution he/she will attend.
- Hence, counselling is not offered or practically limited.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
- The Counselling process at NETWORK starts with Professional Orientation for each student who needs assistance and/or guidance in choosing an academic pathway and a professional career that suit him. Next comes the selection of Specialist studies, after thorough familiarisation with the content of the courses and with the routes for professional development.
- If a student has not decided where to study, in terms of University or location in the UK, NETWORK Counsellors can help students on how to research the various options and make their decisions.
Costs: Not only we offer an invaluable academic knowledge, a one-in-a-lifetime experience, but also a less costly approach.

Number of Applications to Universities and Possible Guarantees
Foundation Programme in the UK
Essentially, only a single application to a University or College, which is the same University or College in which the student will attend the Foundation programme.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
Five applications to five different Universities of the candidate’s choice. Practically 120 British Universities accept NETWORK Foundation as 1st Year Entry Qualification and can offer places to NETWORK students.
Accommodation Application for the 1st Year of Attendance
Foundation Programme in the UK
The processes of gathering information, having consultation and finding accommodation are processes that students must carry out on their own.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
The processes of offering information and securing accommodation are processes that NETWORK offers to guarantee University based accommodation for every student.
Monitoring Student Progress
Foundation Programme in the UK
This service is purely academic in the UK and follows routine standards.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
At NETWORK, advisors and professors have direct and continuous supportive contact with the students, as is customary in Greek society. This practice at NETWORK is important for the families of the Chinese (and other International students) and is very much appreciated.
Content of the Core Curriculum Courses and the Professors in the Foundation Programme
Foundation Programme in the UK
The curriculum in the Foundation courses is specific and predetermined.
As far as the teaching staff is concerned, students who have attended Foundation in the UK have reported that many Universities and Colleges tend to use their junior teachers in Year-0 courses.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
The curriculum in the NETWORK Foundation courses is also specific and corresponds to the curriculum of the equivalent Foundation courses in the UK.
Regarding NETWORK‘s teaching staff, all our Professors are very experienced and specialist native-English professionals. Our Foundation Professors are not only our best teachers, but also recognised scholars in education.
English Language Knowledge Prerequisites for Registration at the Foundation course
Foundation Programme in the UK
IELTS 5.5 or 6.0, or the Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE) in English.
A holder of a First Certificate in English (FCE) is rarely accepted (and this only after an interview).
English Language teaching
at NETWORK is a TOP priority,
taught by our native-English Professors.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
IELTS 4.5 or 5.0, or a First Certificate (FCE) from any international examination board (not Cambridge only).
In case a student does not hold an English language certificate, then he/she is asked to take the NETWORK English Diagnostic Test and if he/she obtains an adequate score, then he/she is admitted to the NETWORK Foundation Programme.
English Language teaching at NETWORK is a top priority and our College provides extensive courses. Therefore, First Certificate level students are also accepted, as the students’ level improves significantly during the Foundation year, ensuring full preparation for studies in the UK.
Extra English Language Courses alongside the Foundation Programme
Foundation Programme in the UK
In the UK, students whose English knowledge is weak or those who wish to improve their English skills may have the option to take an additional English course, but there will be a extra fees and at a relatively high additional cost.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
English Language at NETWORK is a core curriculum subject in all Foundation programmes, with many teaching hours per week dedicated to it.
Due to the gradual adaptation to both linguistic skills and academic terminology, it is difficult for students to fail on account of language lapses.
More than that, NETWORK offers free additional English Language courses to weaker students, in order for such students to keep up with the pace in their classes.
Daily use of English Language during the Foundation Programme
Foundation Programme in the UK
Our experience has shown that while in the UK, International students do not regularly speak in English outside the classroom, because the majority, if not all, tend to mingle with classmates from their own home country.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
Also at NETWORK, students tend not to use English outside the classroom.
However, at NETWORK not only do we offer more English Language courses than at any Foundation course in the UK, but also we make certain that student groups are mixed and in this way, the English Language is much more widely used on a daily basis.
NETWORK also warmly encourages and supports students from different countries to socialise with each other, inside and outside NETWORK. This is accomplished by means of the various extracurricular activities that we organise, such as social, sports, artistic and cultural, among others.
Flexibility for Possible Change of Specialisation after the start of the Foundation Programme
Foundation Programme in the UK
It is rather difficult for a student to change his direction of studies once enrolled in a programme, unless this change falls within the broader field of the initial specialisation in which the student has enrolled.
For example, a student enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering preparatory programme can switch to another Engineering programme, such as Civil or Chemical Engineering, but not to a Business or Biology programme.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
Until the start of the 2nd Term at NETWORK Foundation, a student may change his direction of study.
Also, since each candidate may select five University choices (not only one as in the UK Foundation programmes), transferring to another direction of study is possible because one or more of the five selected Universities are very likely to offer such direction.
Student-College Relations and Student Personal Support and Welfare
Foundation Programme in the UK
Although in all British secondary educational institutions support is very good, this support does not extend to procedural matters or to personal counselling, because all this is considered to have already occurred within high schools.
Personal support is limited to communication among the school, the professors and the students.
Foundation Programme at NETWORK
At NETWORK, the College and the professors have direct and continuous supportive contact with the students.
Such practice is important to all International students.
Of course, this individual care does not affect academic objectivity.
As a result, NETWORK cultivates excellent student habits and academic skills by shaping student conscience for investing in productive effort and achieving high standards of performance.
